Res Tantum

The sacrament of marriage is at the center of every successful small group. We know the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. The Sacrament of Marriage is one of the carriers that takes us to that summit. It is also the end goal of successful groups. The bride of Christ meets the groom at the wedding feast of the Lamb. We teach how strong marriages equal strong families, leading to sanctification and intimacy with God.

Rest tantum is Latin for “reality alone.” It is the result or action of applied grace. The res tantum of marriage is the grace to live together as husband and wife. This requires a faith response to grace that disposes the couple to live faithfully in indissoluble unity, so we must learn how sacramental marriage was designed to function.
